I think Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca would be a perfect candidate for vampire translation. She was wicked, had mesmerizing power over all and that devoted housekeeper just screams human protector/slave. Max realized she was a vampire and tried to destroy her, but...

Maybe The Phantom of the Opera with a vampire theme? I can't imagine it having such a theme but it would definitely be interesting.
