Jane Slayre - Blog Tour and Contest

Jane Slayre
by Sherri Browning Erwin and Charlotte Bronte
Gallery; Original edition (April 13, 2010)

A timeless tale of love,  devotion . . . and the undead.

Jane Slayre, our plucky demon-slaying heroine, a courageous orphan who spurns the detestable vampyre kin who raised her, sets out on the advice of her ghostly uncle to hone her skills as the fearless slayer she’s meant to be. When she takes a job as a governess at a country estate, she falls head-over-heels for her new master, Mr. Rochester, only to discover he’s hiding a violent werewolf in the attic—in the form of his first wife. Can a menagerie of bloodthirsty, flesh-eating, savage creatures-of-the-night keep a swashbuckling nineteenth-century lady from the gentleman she intends to marry? Vampyres, zombies, and werewolves transform Charlotte Brontë’s unforgettable masterpiece into an eerie paranormal adventure that will delight and terrify.

I think it would be quite funny to do Gone with the Wind in a vampire/paranormal theme. But.. shorter.

My favorite book PRIDE AND PREJUDICE has already been done with a vampire theme. My next choice would be NORTH AND SOUTH.

Posted for Mary

I think Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca would be a perfect candidate for vampire translation. She was wicked, had mesmerizing power over all and that devoted housekeeper just screams human protector/slave. Max realized she was a vampire and tried to destroy her, but...

Maybe The Phantom of the Opera with a vampire theme? I can't imagine it having such a theme but it would definitely be interesting.

I've got to agree that Gone With The Wind would be the ultimate vampire story. Rhett and Scarlet never getting old and just continuing to go after each other....
