About the book: Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
One of the most compelling writers of our time, Stephenie Meyer brings us a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the very essence of what it means to be human.

After hearing rumors that The Host is being made into a movie, I figure I have to read it now. Plus the idea sounds really fresh (and I like that).
I really enjoyed Stephen King's Dreamcatcher (the movie). I never read the book, but I have read some of his other works and there is reason he is the master of horror.

War of the Worlds comes to mind. The movies really creep me out, more than zombies even. It's weird that this is the topic today because I just watched The Day the Earth Stood Still last night with my husband. The Keanu Reeves version- not great but not totally terrible. Those little bugs were a trip!

Hi Patricia!
Great news and great event! Thanks so much for hosting!
I actually just finished the anthology "Beyond The Dark" which included just such a story of alien/human invasions! "Dragon Dance" by Angela Night tells a story of alien to human mind/body invasion where the human hosts become "possessed" and develop super human powers. It's a great story!

The 1951 version of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is my all time favorite SciFi movie. Finding the story it was based on "Farewell to the Master" by Harry Bates was wild to read.
Robin K. beat me to the Freedom series by Anne McCaffrey. Heh. So I'll go with The Talent & The Hive series and Restoree by the same author.
As for movies - X-Files or Men In Black.
Thanks! :0)
