Vampire Hunter Anita Blake Star of Ardeur - Contest

Ardeur 14 Writers on the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series
Edited by Laurell K. Hamilton
Smart Pop (April 6, 2010)
[see contest details at end of post]
"Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series is a literary sensation, thanks to its strong female hero, well-fleshed (both literally and literarily) characters and unabashed attitude toward sex. The world Hamilton has created is powerfully compelling and stunningly complex—and it gets deeper and richer, and more perilous, with every book.

"Straddling the series’ dominant themes of sex and power, Ardeur gives Anita fans a deeper look into the dynamics, both personal political, that have kept readers fascinated throughout the run of the series. Why is the ardeur the very best thing that could have happened to Anita, personally (aside from all the sex it requires her to have with hot men)? How is Anita’s alternate United States a logical legal extension of our own? And as the series continues, what other bargains might Anita have to make with herself and others in order to keep the people she loves safe from harm?"

Asher is one of Anita's men. He was horribly burned on one side by holy water. When she first meets him he only shows her the good side of his face, using his hair to cover his scars to keep her from seeing how bad it is.

Great contest.I can't wait to read this book.

Nathaniel, my favorite character from the Anita Blake books. He is one of Anita's housemates who when needed serves to feed the Ardeur and is also part of Anita's power triangle with Damien, he is a stripper at Guilty Pleasures and a shape shifter.

I do love Richard. I know,I know but I can't help it. I have a soft spot for that wolf and just think of the power if he could get his stuff together.

It would be great to win a copy of this book since 1)I'm broke and 2) Flirt was way overpriced and I'm still a little bitter.
That said, I'm still a Laurell K. Hamilton follower and will hopefully get to meet her soon (she's signing at Murder By the Book here in Houston in the near future) :-)

+1 Micah is definitely my favorite character (he's wayyyyy too good for Anita!!!!)
+1 He's a great leader of the pack, he's sexy as can be, he allows Anita to be herself without trying to tie her down, and he's truly loving. What more could she want in a man????

I'm going to make separate entries if that's OK.

My favorite character is Anita--everyone else in the series is kind of pale in comparison.

The reason I love Anita is maybe a bit silly. She is an Episcopalian and her mother is Mexican (same as me). When I read the books (and I haven't missed a single one) I just wish I had her spunk! lol

Hello, I'm new to Anita Blake series and am in the process of buying them all. So far my favorite character besides Anita is Jean Claude a Master Vampire who owns a night club and has the hots for Anita. I am a follower and a subscriber. I don't have a website or other network sites but I did tell my sister a friend. So I think that makes 4 chances.

Bullet is not a plot-driven book; it's a character-driven book. In some ways, Bullet has more in common with literary fiction than genre fiction. Laurell K. Hamilton's books have become less about what the characters are doing than who they are becoming. In Bullet, readers will not find the larger-than-life conflicts and flashy climaxes of early Anita Blake novels. If you like fast-paced action, you're going to be dissatisfied when the majority of a book focuses on the internal workings of the characters' minds.

For all the action and the sex, I have always thought that at the heart of this was Anita's Journey. A journey not inconsistent with the "Hero's Journey" as described by Joseph Campbell and further applied to writing and film by Christopher Vogler. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Writer%27s_Journey:_Mythic_Structure_For_Writers
