PVN is thrilled to participate in the launch of An Embarrassment of Riches by popular author Chelsea Quinn Yarbro featuring Saint-Germain probably the most honorable vampire in the literature of this genre.
*Today only, MARCH 3, 2011, you will have a chance to win a copy of An Embarrassment of Riches. Two winners will be selected.
*The contest is restricted to residents of the US and Canada.
*Leave a comment and be sure to include contact information. Good luck!
An Embarrassment of Riches (Tor Books; hardcover; on-sale March 1st):
"More than two decades strong, the Saint-Germain cycle is one of the most compelling works of dark fantasy and horror of our age. Historically accurate, often involving key events or figures from throughout world history, these deeply emotional novels have a devoted readership. Each novel is written as a stand-alone and they are not chronologically consecutive, so readers may enter the saga with any book and move backward or forward in time as they choose, from Pharaonic Egypt to Paris in the 1700s, from the fall of the Roman Empire to World War II Europe.
"In An Embarrassment of Riches, the vampire Count finds himself a virtual prisoner in the Court of Kunigunde in Bohemia in the 1200s. Rakoczy Ferncsi, as Saint-Germain is known, passes his days making jewels to delight Queen Kunigunde and trying not to become involved in the Court's intrigues. In this, the vampire fails. Handsome, apparently wealthy, and obviously unmarried, he soon finds himself being sexually blackmailed by Rozsa, an ambitious lady-in-waiting. If he does not satisfy her, she will denounce him to the priests and he'll be burned at the stake, resulting in his True Death. Despite his care, the vampire makes more than one enemy at the Bohemian Court, and by the end of An Embarrassment of Riches, the Count can see only one road to freedom...through death."

I guess I've really had my nose to the grindstone, because I love Yarbro's Saint Germain series and I didn't even realize this was coming out! If I win it, I'll have to review it. :-)

I hadn't heard of this one before or the author. I definitely added the first book in the series (gah this is 24!) to my TBR list and I'd love a chance to be entered for Yarbro's latest release.

I love C.Yarbro's books and especially St.Germain. I have not ordered this book yet, so will put my name in the pot. My two favorite genres are historicals and vampires, so I have to love her books.

I re-read Dracula for Halloween, 1979 and was returning it to the library when I walked past the New Book section. Saint Germain, on the cover of THE PALACE, reached for me. I picked him up and have never been the same. I read that book so many times, I had to have a copy of my own. Now, I own the series. I am looking forward to his new adventures. Wherever and whenever he is, I am his (and Ms. Yarbro's) devoted fan.
I was returning DRACULA to the library Halloween, 1979 and passed the new books. There was Saint Germain in THE PALACE waiting for me to pick him. I did and have not been the same since. I read THE PALACE so often, I knew I had to have my own copy. Since then, I have a Saint Germain library and have become his and Ms. Yarbro's, devoted fan. I can hardly wait to read AN EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES.
A new Count St Germaine. Yippee must mean spring is on the way! This us my utterly favourite vamp series..
Ms. Yarbro is my all time favorite author. She created my favorite vampire - Saint Germain. Her attention to historical detail makes her books all the more interesting for this history buff.
Hotel Transylvania was the first book I read of hers--still have it, binding is taped with duck tape and yellowed pages are dog-eared. I would love to read this particular book of hers. She's why I had to continue to write my vampire novels!
