Starting Friday January 23, 2008 the vampire series Moonlight will be shown on the SciFi channel at 9:00 followed by Battlestar Galactica. This will be the last season of Battlestar. I love that show.

Author Martin Dubow has posted the first three sections of his vampire WIP, Mrs Trollope. What he has written so far is quite intriguing.

The following will be of special interest to writers, but readers may also find it relevant. " Welcome to the Deadline Dames. We are nine urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and young adult writers who have joined forces to talk about our roller coaster lives in the writing trenches." Authors represented are:

On Amberkatze's Book Blog is an interview with popular author Yasmine Galenorn creator of the Sisters of the Moon series. There is also a contest which is open until Sunday January 25 at 4:00 PM CET (Austria). The winner gets to choose which book in the Sister series s/he would like.

Publishers Weekly (1/15/2009) looks at Vampire Academy: Another Series with Bite. "The recent media hoopla surrounding Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) is just one sign that the thirst for teen vampire titles hasn’t been quenched. Witness Razorbill’s bestselling Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead. The third title in the paperback series, Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, Book 3), hit shelves November 13, racking up brisk sales and bringing the three-volume total to nearly 600,000 copies in print since the series’ August 2007 debut.... Read chapter one of Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, Book 4) by Patricia Briggs (Ace Hardcover February 3, 2009).

Publisher blurb: In a world where “witches, vampires, werewolves, and shape-shifters live beside ordinary people” (Booklist), it takes a very unusual woman to call it home. By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy’s found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so- human on more than one occasion. This time she may get more than she bargained for.

Thanks for the great links, especially Patricia Briggs! I've seen her books on the shelves, but yet to add one to Mt Git'r'Read. That will change my next book order or trip to the bookstore.

This isn't a new season of Moonlight, is it? Like SciFi picked it up when it was cancelled from whichever network I watched it on? Or is it just the syndication of previous seasons' episodes?

Hi Cherie

SciFi is showing the episodes that were on CBS last season. Not sure why SciFi is doing this. Maybe they will decide to pick it up?

Cool, thanks for that info. I had went to the SciFi site and it didn't say. And since I recently got a new DVR (upgrading? from my 1st gen TiVo which could only record one show at a time and you couldn't watch anyting else, to Verizon's DVR, smaller disk space though without the extras of the TiVo service, though I can record 2 different channels simultaneously, so is it really an upgrade... but I digress.) Anyway since getting the new DVR, Moonlight and Medium (which I also programmed back in thanks to your heads up) weren't in the list of stuff to record.
