I have joined the blog tour for The Host (Little, Brown and Company, 2008) by Stephenie Meyer best known for her Twilight Series. I read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it, but never got around to writing a review. My excuse is that The Host is more SF than fantasy.
However, I did have a chance to interview Stephenie at the behest of Library Journal. Hope you have time to read it.
Blurb: "Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
One of the most compelling writers of our time, Stephenie Meyer brings us a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the very essence of what it means to be human."

WOW! First comment. My daughters turned me on to the Twilight series and I enjoyed them very much. I liked The Host and was wondering if this a beginning of another series?
What a cool concept. I'm looking forward to reading The Host.
I've always been fascinated with the idea of interaction between humans and aliens, and the conflicts that might arise from entirely different thought processes and expectations.
I'd like to be included, count me in!
Please include me. I feel like one of the only people that hasnt read this yet.

Read this book after reading the Twilight saga and was amazed by it. It was so different from all the other urban-fantasy/science-fiction/fantasy books that I normally read. I loved it!! Would love to see Stephenie write more books for adults on that adult level.
Count me in for the contest!
Oh, well I'm so in for this. I've wanted to read this book, mostly because I'm not much into her other stuff.
Now for the boring stuff:

I borrowed it from the library to read it, but I'd like my own copy so I could reread it! Great giveaway. Thanks!
I, too, loved THE HOST. And I'm so glad I read it pre-the disaster that was BREAKING DAWN. I'm looking forward to a good re-read soon! Thanks for the contest.
The Host is a great story about the struggle of humanity in the light of extinction. It also touches on ones fears towards something that is unknown or different and goes through the human scope of emotion on how to deal with change. Of course, there is the love aspect which drives the character through the story. All in all, it is a great read and I recommend it to anyone-- even if they aren't Sci-Fi fans.
Please count me in - thanks.
